Time to run errands? The only thing that could possibly make that chore better is bringing your pup along! Thankfully, many companies nationwide have opened their doors, their arms and their menus to your canine sidekick. Whether you’re looking to start a DIY project, do some shopping, or grab a bite, these national chains are super pet-friendly!
Home and Garden
This home improvement, lawn and garden, and agricultural retailer allows leashed dogs in almost all locations. In fact, some are so dog-friendly that they host pet-specific events and fundraisers for shelters and rescues. Plus, they offer a huge selection of pet products for one-stop shopping.
Stock up on stylish linens, home accents, and even modern pet products and treats at this affordable retailer. Home Goods is a pet-friendly company where leashed pets are welcome. Before you head to the store, check out their Pinterest board of their favorite pet-friendly finds.
Also on this list include Bed Bath & Beyond, Michael’s, JoAnn Fabrics, Pottery Barn, and Restoration Hardware.
MakeUp and Clothing
As with other clothing stores, the final decision is left up to store managers, but Macy’s has always been an animal loving company. They must be leashed and well-mannered, but they are welcome to shop right alongside you.
The upscale department store’s pet policy is that leashed, well-mannered pets are welcome to shop with their owners on a case-by-case basis. Call ahead to ask about your store’s rules; for instance, some have a “no paws on the ground” rule, which means only dogs in carriers are welcome.
Other stores we’ve heard about include Ann Taylor, Marshalls, TJ Mass, Bass Pro Shops, Barnes and Noble, Sephora, Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People, Foot Locker, Bebe, Old Navy, Saks Fifth Avenue, LUSH Cosmetics, Gap, and Bloomingdale’s.
Food and Drink
Get your caffeine fix at your local Starbucks drive-thru, and ask for a Puppuccino for your copilot. Some locations call it a Puppy Latte, but either way, your dog will love the tiny cup of whipped cream.
Need another excuse to hit up DQ on a hot day? Many locations offer free “Pup Cups” for dogs. The treat is a small vanilla soft serve, which pairs perfectly with a Blizzard for you.
McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood & Steaks
Not feeling a drive-thru but want to dine out with your dog? McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood & Steaks is a business casual eatery that welcomes dogs at their locations with patios. Most even provide a chew for dining dogs… though most dogs would probably prefer the steak.
And the list goes on. Check out this great round up of secret menu items you can find for your dog at various restaurants nationwide.

For dogs who love to get out and about, or for dogs in training who need more enriching experiences, expand your dog’s worldview by visiting these retailers together.
*Note: Many stores leave it up to the manager to decide whether their store allows dogs or not, and not all of these stores will allow dogs. The best way to ensure you can bring your pooch inside is to call ahead and find out the specific store’s policy.
